ALONE... RELENTLESS... DRIVEN FROM WITHIN.

"He who gains victory over other men is strong;

but he who gains victory over himself is all powerful" - Lao Tzu

on the importance of video analysis...

taking the time to record your efforts and put yourself under the microscope in order to analyze, critique, and tear apart your actions is necessary in order to understand how you move. from there the time must be invested to learn what steps can be taken to improve. only after an honest self assessment and application of knowledge will the dividends reveal themselves. at that point one can begin to experience improved control, more efficient movement of loads thru time and space, and increased rate of motion.

MISC. 5.27,28,29,30.2010

bits and pieces of the last four days' efforts. some change of scenery and methods led to an interesting and challenging group of work. time has become scarce and, out of necessity, this format may become the new normal...

POWER AND SPEED - 5.18.10

unchartered territory again today. the real work started around rep 18 where my one breath per rep pace was brought to a screeching halt. from there i kept fending off the building fatigue of each subsequent repetition. the defenses wouldn't last forever...
and after a short break it was time to work on speed with a short timed circuit

PROGRAM ERROR - 5.16.10

at that point the thought didn't even cross my mind that the work should have been cycled each minute. i underestimated my abilites and as a result the potency of the intended prescription suffered.

INTERRUPTED INDULGENCE - 5.15.10

this was exactly what the doctor ordered. an effective combination aimed right at the core of the self preservation hub. result: direct hit. there is nowhere to hide, no escape, and no choice but to keep going.

POST WORK - 5.13.10

by the time i headed down the driveway and out onto the street for this 5,280ft of torture. needless to say, comfort was out of the question, regardless of what i tried.

A SIMPLE PLAN - 5.12.10

i'm anticipating elevated levels of soreness in my upper body for a few days but this was worth it. always been a fan of primarily body weight scenarios and this only increases the addiction.

MEDICATION WITH PAIN - 5.10.10

my goal for this was to modify to a load that, with full throttle application, would produce a time at or below the 3 min mark. for me it was just a matter of how many seconds under could i get. unfortunately things didn't go as planned.

MISCELLANEOUS MILE - 5.8.10

it's important to leave the gym / garage whenever possible and get outside for a change of scenery. this workout was a nice change of pace and a welcome reprieve from recent efforts.

TEST DAY - 5.1.10

i must become even more diligent and practice these movements weekly, if not daily. otherwise i'll always be wanting more and right now there's more to be gained from improvements in technique than strength.

BENCH(LESS) - 4.28.10

when you're short on equipment you have to get creative. i'm having a hard time finding a simple flat bench with no gadgets or unwanted adjustments. in the meantime i'll continue to find other ways to maintain strength in that area.
